Terms & Conditions

The dull but necessary section, in plain English wherever possible.

1. A loving homage

This website is a non-commercial, fan-made homage to the BBC Radio 4 comedy panel show I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue and, in particular, its much-loved round, the Uxbridge English Dictionary. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or otherwise connected to the BBC, the production company, the presenters, the panellists, their estates, or any associated rights holders. No copyright infringement is intended. We make no claim to the names, trade marks, formats, or other intellectual property associated with the show. If any rights holder objects to any aspect of this site, please contact the site owner and we will respond promptly and reasonably.

2. User-submitted content

By submitting a word, a definition, a vote or any other content, you confirm that the contribution is your own original creation and that you grant the site owner a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display, distribute, edit, moderate, and remove that contribution on this site and in connection with promoting this site. You retain authorship of your own creative wording.

3. Editorial control

The site owner reserves absolute editorial control. We may, at any time and without notice, edit, hide, reject, pin, feature, or delete any submission for any reason, including (but not limited to) content that is insulting, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, sexually explicit, threatening, harassing, defamatory, or simply not very funny.

4. Content policy

5. Privacy

We collect no personal data. An anonymous browser token is stored in a cookie purely so that the voting system can prevent the same browser voting twice on the same definition. You may optionally include a public nickname when you submit content, and that nickname will be displayed beside your contribution. Please do not include any personally identifying information in your nickname.

6. No warranty

This is a fun fan site, provided "as is" with no warranties of any kind. We accept no liability for any humour deficiency, sudden onset of pun appreciation, mild offence at someone else's joke, or hours of life unproductively spent browsing.

7. Governing tone

These terms shall be interpreted in the spirit of the show that inspired them: with charm, mild bafflement, and good humour.
